Remi: Where are you from?

Heat: I was born in Jamaica and I grew up in the Bronx

Remi: What was it like growing up in the Bronx?

Heat: I grew up in some of the roughest times in the Bronx. The Bronx was known to have some of the worst killers. I wouldn’t change it; I love the Bronx.

Remi: Has making beats always been your passion?

Heat: Na, I never even thought about that side of music. I never thought about the person making the music. I kind of just thought about the artist ..I use to DJ before I made beats. I never thought about the production side of it.. I just grew a passion for it. In my sophomore year in high school I kind of always was involved in music somehow like djing.

Remi: What gives you the motivation to make these sounds is it based on energy?

Heat: Yes, I believe that. I’m expressing the way I feel ..how ever the music is making you feel then that’s what I was feeling when I made that. I don’t make music based on what the artist needs or what type of record. I can’t make beats like that I make music based on 100 percent on how I feel.

Remi: What do you like to do on your spare time when you’re not making music when you’re just being yourself?

Heat: I don’t go out too much but when I’m in the house I like watching ratchet TV lol. I get entertained about things I can’t wrap my brain around. I watch meaningful things too but on my down time I watch things like that.

Remi: How did you get discovered?

Heat: I wouldn’t say I got discovered it was just the right place at the right time sort of thing. I ran into cams manager and a couple of my home boys at the time ran into cams manager, and he asked us what we did we said produced. We gave him beat CD’S he called us back a week a later and we ended up locking in with cam ..We did some work before that to we did a record for Canibus but cam was obviously the biggest upgrade at the time. Cam just had signed to Roc-A-Fella and Roc-A-Fella was on fire.

Remi: How did you stay positive during the negative times in your career?

Heat: Um.. I think it was more so my competitive spirit. When I felt a certain way I kind of turned it to me against them, and that forced me to feel like I’m better than the people that I’m listening to. It’s no disrespect to them like I don’t have any ill feelings towards them it was just me using that as motivation to say that I’m going prove that I’m better then what I’m listening to now. I proved it once. I’m the type of person that pays attention to every win. I see the bigger picture in every single little win. I enjoy every single win and it just made it better. By me enjoying every single win it helps me appreciate the music I make so much more.

Remi: Are you working on any new projects coming out?

Heat: Besides el capo that just came out? I did some stuff with Wayne, I just did a record off Maino new project, and I have something coming out with Macy Gray. We have a record coming out called burning down the house.
