Larissa Marie Of Matriarch Cosmetics

Planning, budgeting, and staying consistent with your business goals. Matriarch Cosmetics is a Cruelty Free and Vegan Cosmetics company based in Atlanta Georgia. The name Matriarch means: "A woman who is the leader of her tribe." Matriarch fully captures my mission which is to inspire, motivate, and bring out the inner strength of leadership, happiness, and beauty within any race, color, or ethnicity all over the world.

What inspired your entrepreneurial journey?

Makeup has always been my passion, very therapeutic for me, and typically my biggest stress reliever. There is beauty in everyone and I truly believe that makeup is not to hide imperfections but to bring out the inner beauty in people while creating the ability for them to express their creativity, emotions, and style.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It has definitely been a beautiful journey. Although there has been some hurdles in the road, I have had to adapt quickly to things and take constructive criticism and just understand that not everyone is going to like your products, and that is absolutely ok.

Did you ever consider giving up? Where did you get the motivation to continue through your challenges? What sustains your drive?

Whenever I'm having a rough day or having doubts I read Mark Cubans quote, " Don't start a company unless it's an obsession and something you love. If you have an exit strategy, it's not an obsession". Matriarch Cosmetics is my obsession.

What should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

Our products are Cruelty Free but I also hand make some of the Vegan products at home with the best Organic Oils, natural ingredients, and beautiful scents to insure top notch quality while still being affordable.

When did you realize entrepreneurship was right for you?

I realized this when I finally understood that the money isn't the goal... Freedom is...Entrepreneurship has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to obtain freedom.

What advice do you have for entrepreneurs and small business owners who may not be achieving their goals?

Don't focus on what's not working in a negative aspect. Focus on making it work and learning how to positively grow. Entrepreneurship is a learning process practically everyday. Be open to listening, learning, and being positive.

What are your future business goals?

At the moment I am working full time for another company. I want Matriarch Cosmetics to be my full time job so I can be an entrepreneur, happy, and free 100% of the time.

Generating new business, increasing your profits, or at least maintaining your financial stability can be challenging during good times, even more so during turbulent times. Can you share some of the strategies you use to keep forging ahead and not lose growth traction during a difficult economy?

Planning, budgeting, and staying consistent with your business goals.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

"If you fail to plan, you ultimately plan to fail." This is one of the life lessons that I will literally never forget. I've seen how impactful planning is as well as failing to plan.
